Tom Branch's 1932 Ford Roadster

This project began with a '32 roadster body Tom had found in the rafters of a retired policeman's house in his neighborhood. It was completely disassembled, with rust damage to the entire lower 4 inches of the car and had no floor. Still, what a find! He picked up a new ,basic '32 frame from Squeak Bell (Kiwi Connection, Bakersfield, CA).

Fabian kicked up the rear rails, fabricated a custom rear cross member, custom brackets for the 40 ford steering, and made and installed the motor and trans mounts. He then fabricated a tube structure to locate the body to the frame, and made a new floor accommodating the channeled body. With the body and rolling chassis ready, Tom installed the electrical and plumbing as well as the stout '55 Studebaker motor he built. Tom then adapted a t-5 transmission for freeway cruising.

When the car returned to the garage, Fabian continued to repair the lower panels, as well as painting the frame and firewall gold.

Down the road this '32 will have more work done, but meanwhile, it's on the road! This year will be the roadster and the Branch's, 4th trip to the salt flats as the push car and crew, for our D/STR roadster (#865 rock-a-billy boogy).
